AUTHOR EVENTS

In the past we have worked with Fox Books to run a series of Author Events which include readings, workshops and events. Our Author Events have been an opportunity for children and young people to connect directly with their favourite authors through intimate events at the bookshop or in larger theatre setups.

Comedian Alasdair Beckett King, a tall man with long red hair, stands quizzically at the front of a bookshop with a The UK Kids' Comedy Festival banner as a backdrop. At the bottom of the image you can see the backs of children's heads looking at the comedian.

We have previously featured the following authors and titles:

John Robertson – The Little Town Of Marrowville

Rosie Jones – The Amazing Edie Eckhart

Samantha Baines – The Night The Moon Went Out

Olaf Falafel – Trixie Pickle Art Avenger

Louie Stowell – Loki: A Bad God’s Guide To Being Good

Bec Hill – Horror Heights: The Slime

KICKS DOES COMEDY

In 2022, The UK Kids’ Comedy Festival partnered with Leicester City in the Community to pilot Kicks Does Comedy. Kicks Does Comedy was a comedy school and showcase at the King Power Stadium.

The project included a series of workshops to Year 7s and 8s at Castle Mead Academy – who performed a variety show on Friday 11th February 2022.

Kicks Does Comedy was part of Leicester City in the Community’s Premier League Kicks provision, a programme of constructive activities, including a wide variety of sports, coaching, music and educational and personal development sessions aiming to increase extra-curricular participation and reduce anti-social behaviour in the communities it serves.
